Why does our course start in February?

The whole Classic Acupuncture Acatdemy team is very excited to have the course starting on the 7th of February this year.

The beginning of our degree-level professional acupuncture course coincides with the Chinese new year and we've been asked why we chose to do it that way. As our masters taught us and we in turn transmit to our students, there is an immense value in living by what we practice.

The Chinese new year happens when the five element cycle begins anew with the wood phase. Wood embodies the concept of rebirth and is the best time for fresh starts and the beginning of new cycles. The start of the new year also happens when the six energies are at Tsiue Yin (light wind/the Universal Spirit giving its orders).

From an energetic point of view this is the best time to start a new project, get into a new habit, or make a significant change. Getting a fresh start when nature is going into a new cycle makes sense: you are truly going with the flow on a planetary scale. According to the Tao, our position as human beings is between Heaven & Earth. as such it is wise to at least keep our steps within the rhythm of the cosmic tango lest we get “stepped” on!

As we will be focusing on efforts on New Zealand this year, the beginning of February is also the perfect time for the start of our school year, as it also is the time when Kiwis come back from the summer vacations and the kids go back to school themselves. We're looking forward to working with this group of students and look forward to seeing classical acupuncture being practiced in New Zealand.

Happy new year to all and all the best on your all your new endeavours!
